Status Updates – Explained : Quub.com

Quub is a new twitter-like service which allows you to connect to world by status updates. This video is a part of their advertising campaign. All the video are really informative and sleek.

In this video, they explain the communication model behind status updates. They call it AMBIENT MODEL, where instead of User A talking to User B its like User A talking to a larger amount of network and intrested Users B, C, G, Y can capture that information and respond to it.

Spams can be useful too, like Spamghetto.

Everyday we all get some great offers for lotteries,  financial services, amazing gifts and little more which you cant even think of.  All in a bunch of SPAM mails ! And we have no option other than washing them away to trash.

But, at TODO.to.it – an interaction and media design studio, they have used up-to 2000 different junk mail subjects to create a beautiful wallpaper. They call it SPAMGHETTO.

According to them, a quick glance at spam mails gives fresh inspirations, bizarre subjects. And may be someday a brilliant scientist will find the definitive solution to eradicate from the web the bittersweet pleasure of spam.

The wallpaper is created using a generative software, so it can be folded and molded accordingly to desired dimensions of space.

Recently i have been listening to some really good electronic music bands like Royksopp, Daft Punk, Mint Royale and El Ten Eleven. Their music works out great to help while long working session with your machine.

This wallpaper artwork came out as a result of too much listening to them.

Forestle.org – Help environment by search.

Forestle is an ecologically inspired not-for-profit web search site invented and created by Christian Kroll, Wittenberg, Germany, in 2008. Forestle is a “green Internet search engine”. They use their advertising revenue to protect endangered rainforest regions in order to keep our worlds most precious ecosystems intact and fight global warming.

The advertising income, which Forestle generates from your web searches, is sufficient to save 0.1 square meter (0.11 yd²) of rain forest per search.

An average Internet user does about 1,000 searches annually. This means that you can save more than 100 square meters (109 yd²) of rainforest every year simply by using Forestle. And the best is that it is absolutely free!
Forestle post monthly reports, which show how much rainforest has been saved.

In total more than 273,794.5 m² (299,421.7 yd²) have been protected already by Forestle!

Miniature Toy Cars shoot.

A small shoot of some of my old toy cars,  i wish i get some time and a good story to do some stop-motion using them in this style .

Microsoft imagining the Future !

Recently at Microsoft Office Labs, they have imagined the future !
There must be lot of people and organizations thinking on similar concepts, but Microsoft goes forwards and visualizes them in a sight and sound format.  Have a look at video,  it will remind you of all the Sci-Fi films you saw with floating screens and semantically smart machines talking to machines.

Watching this always fascinates, but sometimes so much of technology scares me too.

Simling Typefaces

We all are pretty conversant with the typical smile emoticons we use on web, but from years and years we are watching them only in the restricted web fonts like Verdana, Georgia and so on.

So i just did a small experiment to find out how other type “faces” smile, and some of them are really interesting !!

And ya…notice Arial, is he trying to pretend like Mr. Helvetica !

Interface Guidelines and consistency.

Recently I worked on a web-design project for a content writing firm, Word Quotient. The site is pretty simple, minimalistic style with priority to content. They have a library section there to share their essays and other writings, so it’s going to be frequently updated by future editors. In that case, to make the website stay beautiful & minimal the project demands an interface guideline document. This will help maintaining the brand consistency and interface language.

Here are the important elements which I think are essential to be defined in an interface guideline document.
